I've been looking at the number of electronics being posted on eBay for my other job,
eBay Gadget and Toy Director, and lately I've seen the number of listing houver right around 1 million a day! Crazy, huh? SO out of the millions of products I thought I'd give you a look at a few that have caught my eye.
This is a hand held mobile email device designed for the not so tech savvy mom who is obsessed with checking her email. She's the mom that uses her phone as a phone and doesn't want some crazy smartphone with a million buttons however she wishes she could easily check her email. It's design is sleek and really quite simple. A nice keyboard and lovely color screen all in a skinny square. The simplicity is not just in the design, it's also in the whole idea behind how you pay; there's no contracts, it's just a fee each month. Another nice point, it's really very easy to set up. Just add your email address and password and that's it! So by the time you walk out the door of your local Target and unlock your car , the device is set!
For Mom’s on the go there’s no time to get lost when you’re running late for a playdate so a GPS device is essential. Alpine has come out with the third generation navigation system in the Blackbird family and I'm liking it. It has a touch-screen with pre-loaded maps of the US and Canada , an SD card slot to play tunes if you'd like, and is a nice small device with a beautiful screen . A nice feature is the ability to actually tell you which street to turn on so when you’re driving it will actually tell you to “Turn Left on Oak Street” instead of “Turn Here in 500 yards. Another bonus is that it comes with bluetooth capability for hands free phone calls. Great for those of us who live in states where it's the law. Last, I'm into the fact that you can customize your unit with different colors and schemes to personalize it!
Ok, so this is not on eBay but it's pretty darn cool. This is for Mom's who might need a little help when it comes to their kid's schoolwork. My friend's son asked me about a 5th grade history question and I was in the dark. This is right where I sent him. So check out Verizon's Thinkfinity.org. It's a fun, educational Web site that's FREE to the public, and a safe place for kids to go online, have fun and learn. When you go to the site, you will find games, homework help, and tons of programs that will help kids with book reports, essays, and even science fair projects. Just search any topic and hundreds of teacher approved resources pop up. A great resource for the whole family.
Now when it comes to Internet, you may definitely have concerns when it comes the safety of your kids as well as your computer. CA has come out with their Internet Security Suite Plus 2009, that comes pre-loaded with FREE parental control software. With the program, you can block offensive websites and even set time limits for how long your child spends online while you’re not home. Plus Mom's who are at work can get real-time reports e-mailed to them on where their child has been surfing the net. Great way to protect your computer AND protect your kids with the anti virus protection and automatic backup functions.
